About our Principal

Carl E. Hagman

Carl Carl Hagman was born and raised in Chicago. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University of   Chicago, he spent some time as a Research Technician at Rush-Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center. Though the work was interesting, Carl realized that guiding and nurturing students, teachers and other educational staff was his calling.

He began his career in education teaching Chemistry and coaching basketball. While teaching and coaching, he continued his education, earning his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Loyola University of Chicago. After six years he moved into administration, where prior to his tenure in Waukegan, Carl served as Principal, Assistant Principal, Director of Mathematics and Science, Director of Deans, Dean, Science Teacher and Coach in both public and private schools.

Entering his seventh year serving the students in Waukegan Public Schools, Carl is extremely excited in being the principal at Robert Abbott Middle School, or as the staff refers to themselves, the”Ramily.” He is looking forward to working with all of the members of the Ram Family to build upon the foundations of success that have been accomplished to this point and to work collaboratively to reach new heights in achievement and excellence.
